Overview of 4-Week Saturday Screen Acting Workshop at NYFA in Australia

4-Week Saturday Screen Acting Workshop for Teens (Level 1)

New York Film Academy Australia offers the 4-Week Saturday Screen Acting Workshop (Level 1), a comprehensive four week course designed to introduce young actors aged 13-17 to screen acting. The program focuses on building foundational skills and confidence necessary for screen performance. Four two-hour classes blend theory, practical exercises, and personalised feedback.

The course starts with an introduction to screen acting, where students learn the fundamentals of on-camera performance and explore different shot types. They participate in interactive activities and exercises to develop their ability to express emotions naturally and feel more comfortable in front of the camera.

Throughout the program, students are gradually introduced to monologue work, which allows them to hone their skills in script analysis, character development, and improvisation. In the Monologue Work and Character Development segment, students work closely with their instructor and peers to dissect scripts, understand the motivations of the characters they are portraying, and rehearse for an authentic performance. This collaborative process provides valuable feedback and direction to help them perfect their performances in preparation for the program's final showcase.

The final class focuses on filming, where students showcase their growth by performing a monologue to the camera. They'll learn about on-set etiquette and professional camera setup and receive guidance on creating a truthful and engaging performance in a professional film environment. At the end of the program, students emerge with a broad understanding of screen acting, newfound confidence, and a professionally filmed monologue. The course lays a solid foundation for young actors to thrive in screen performance.
